What Type of Person Are You?

Saturday, March 21st, 2009

I don’t know about you but the majority of people today are finding it tougher and tougher to make ends meet and keep a roof above their heads. Either they lose their jobs or are facing redundancy as the economy of almost every nation in the world takes a down turn.

But this is not a downhearted situation at all really, for if you look back in history to the great depression of the thirties that was when people who were capable of looking beyond the norm were able to lay the foundations of great businesses of the future. Instead of jumping from office windows they were jumping onto ideas that were small to begin with but had the potential to grow beyond expectations.

As the great J D Rockefeller said at the time, “These are days when many are discouraged. In the 93 years of my life, depressions have come and gone. Prosperity has always returned and will again”; I know you could be sat there reading this and saying to your self ‘that is OK for Rockefeller he had a fortune when the depression hit, I don’t, I have a mortgage.”

I think that the essential lesson to learn from his words are that in 5 years time some will look back at this time in history and thank god that we were able to pull through and get it behind them.

However in this world there are three types of people and you must decide which type you are. There are those who ‘Make’ things happen; they are the dreamers who put some action behind their dreams and become the entrepreneurs of tomorrow. There are those who ‘Watch’ things happen, they are the ones who dream of better things but do nothing about it, just in case, they live in a world of fantasy. Then there are those who simply say ‘What Happened’, they neither dream nor fantasise, they simply moan, and look for someone else to blame for their situation.

It is up to you and you alone to decide which group you are going to belong to. If you decided that you are not going to sit back and allow things to happen, you want to take action today to make sure that tomorrow is better, and you need to think outside the box.

A few months ago I heard some words that made me go outside of my box and take a long hard look at the direction I was taking in my life, I was fortunate for one of my friends introduced me to a business that was simple to operate and has the potential, just like those businesses that grew out of the great depression of the thirties, to continue to go from strength to strength.

When he first approached me I was very sceptical and cautious as I had to make every dollar count, but he convinced me to try it out for myself. As it was not some MLM or Pyramid scheme I decided to act when I read the detail, it did appear to be very logical and straight forward. All I can say is that I am pleased that I did, now my future is secure no matter what the economy throws in my direction, and my new business takes very little effort on my behalf. At first I had to apply some effort, not a great deal but some to get the wheels turning. Just like your car once the wheels are turning it can go faster and faster with very little extra effort, it is the law of physics.

So I hope that this little testimony of what has happened to this grey haired old surfer will spur you on to take a look at this business for your self. Only you can decide if it is right for you at this time, I hope it is but you must decide. Remember you can only affect your life by taking action at this moment in time. You cannot do anything about what has happened in your life up until now, it cannot be changed can it, you can only plan for the future as it has not arrived yet all you can do is take action at this exact moment, or you can simply sit back and let another opportunity slip by and regret it later, and become a Watcher or a Moaner it really is up to you.

The Law of Attraction

Monday, March 9th, 2009

Do you doubt the existence of the law of attraction? Perhaps you have tentaively tried, usually in solitude in case anyone saw you, goal setting, visualization or some other way of attracting wealth without success.

So just what is the truth?

After all wherever you turn on the Internet you find disciples of the law of attraction, visualization and goal setting proclaim their wealth, beyond reason in some cases, has been founded by using these techniques. Perhaps the teachings found in a law of attraction book or film have inspired them to bring change to their lives.

You may have heard of the film, ‘The Secret’ even watched it but still dismiss the law of attraction as Mumbo Jumbo.

Or is there really a force in nature that will allow you to use your secret mind to succeed where you have never succeeded before simply by harnessing the power of visuailzation and using affirmations?

Let’s look around nature and see what natural laws exist. Well there is the main one that keeps us all on this small planet of ours; you know the one that has always been there but was best explained by Sir Isaac Newton and his famous apple.

It does not matter whether or not an apple actually fell on his head the law of gravity has always been there and hopefully it always will be here, as I have no fancy for drifting off into space without a spaceship.

Here is a philosophical question for you, ‘What have you to do with how and when the law of gravity effects your life?’

That is one question you do not need to be Einstein to answer – NOTHING? You just accept that it is there because you can see evidence of its power every day and in every part of your life without conscious creation or affirmations.

There is the law of life, in that all life comes from another life. There is no living thing on this planet that does not owe its existence to the law of procreaton?

The law of Chemistry exists because life requires a specific chemistry operating in a certain way, DNA, to power our bodies. The law of Physics describes the universe at its most fundamental level and how planets move in relation to their orbit around their sun. The laws of Mathematics, is not a human invention but has existed in everything since the beginning of time. The law of Logic is the law that all other laws are dependent on. You cannot have a front without a back, you cannot have an up without a down. Without the laws of logic reasoning would be impossible.

All laws depend on each other for their function, but all function without the intervention of a human being. It is the same with your physical make up, you breathe without thinking about it and your blood is pumped around your body taking life giving oxygen to vital organs without your interference.

There is no difference with the law of attraction. If you commit 100% to manifesting abundance, and using visualization and affirmations and accept that you have already achieved your goal the law of attraction will open your mind to opportunities that you have not previously considered and could result in wealth beyond reason.

Because your mind is focused you will hear words from people you meet that you would have missed before because you are now listening to; not just hearing the words. Which is why we only hear what we understand we all interpret what we hear from our own experience.

All of the natural laws operate without conscious creation; resistance or input by you so the law of attraction will work if you accept it instead of resisting and denying it as too simple.

Is the law of gravity simple? Is the law of Chemistry simple? Is the law of physics simple? Is the law of mathematics simple? Is the law of logic simple? In as much as they are there despite you. You may not understand them but you accept them because of the evidence you have every day of their workings.

Look around at every successful person, every goal achiever they are living evidence of the law of attraction working in their lives.

The day you stop questioning the validity of the law of attraction is the day you will allow it to work in your life.

Stop shrugging off your success as a nothing really.

Choose what you want in your life.

No matter how small the first step of action is; it is the most important one you take.

Get a clear picture in your mind just what it is you want.

Make Every Second Count

Saturday, February 28th, 2009

Do you look forward and hope that your tomorrow will be better than today, even though you try to fill your days thinking positively. Are you waiting for the time when you goals are reached and you can escape the rat race?

Well perhaps this could shock one or two of you reading this article when I tell you to stop living for the future.

Let me ask you a couple of questions:

1} Can you change what has happened in your past?
2} Can you do something beyond positive thinking now that will make change life and make tomorrow better?

No matter how many positive thoughts you cram inside your head you cannot change yesterday or the day before, forget them they are history what you can do is create a mind set to make your future better.

Now that we have established that, have you realized that you can only live for this fleeting momentIt is all you have control over, and as soon a one second passes it is gone for good you will never ever get it back. It is vital that you prepare to do something in the next second of your life that will have a positive bearing on the next second and the next and the next and the one after that.

You have got no time for negativity.

Yes you should plan today to make tomorrow better, but not at the expense of enjoying today, this is YOUR LIFE.

Life is short, so why should you not enjoy life for every second that you live, no matter what negativity is going on around you, wars, famine, the economy are outside of your direct control so why let them prevent you from carrying out actions that will improve your future and help you enjoy life at this precise moment.

People are usually depressed and unhappy when they are doing or thinking about negative things, fill your life with positive thoughts and actions and you underwrite your future and create happiness all around while you are doing so you uplift the lives of those around you.

The only way you can do this is to set smart goals and realize that the present moment is all that you will ever experience. Both your past and your future are abstracts of your mind. In your life there is only this second in existence, the one you took to read these words have gone forever (oops! Sorry there goes another one.) You can change your life but only if you take action right now at this moment in time. If you cannot be happy now and enjoy life, when can you be happy?

Too many people allow seconds to slip by as if they were unimportant, the next second could be the most important second of your life. Ask your self what is a dying person’s most precious second?

Take this second to look around you, relax in the quietness of your mind, going beyond positive thinking and goal setting, become aware of the world that surrounds you, by relaxing, your mind will enter into a contemplative mood and will replace the anxiety you get from focussing on your past or your future. You will gradually become aware of the NOW, the eternal now that you exist in, the vital seconds that are taking place as you relax. You will begin to feel the power that is available to you this very second and how it can be used to make tomorrow a brighter place where you will attain your new life and goals without stress or any forcing.

Live life by the second that is your NOW

Do You Find Personal Development Confusing?

Monday, February 16th, 2009

If you hear the term Personal Development what do you think of, a famous encyclopaedia devotes 116 sections to the term so no wonder there is confusion. It is a popular phrase used by ‘Gurus’ to call the masses to heel and sometimes to line their own pockets with more money at the expense of the many.

We were born with unrealized potential and most strive through their lives to make them better through education and job prospects but is this what we call personal development?

So just what is Personal Power or Personal Development training?

It is very much a mental thing, trying to be the best person you can be is one of the power driving forces to help you achieve goals. You look at other people, some of them as role models, and try to integrate some of their personality into your own. But this is just not practical and is the reason many people feel a sense of failure when they try personal development training courses and goal setting tools. They can read personal development books attend personal development seminars but they will never be like their role models.

The reality of your life today is a reflection of the sum of your thoughts until this day.

So if your current situation is the result of all the thoughts that you have, and you have on average 50,000 personal thoughts a day, some people have one thought 50,000 times! Personal Development is all about changing what you do now and getting different results than you have had in your past?

Most people simply want to improve their quality of life they do not need to earn millions to do it; Perhaps all your past experiences have shown a lack of results, so is it still possible to realize all of your personal dreams and aspirations? Since childhood most of us have been held in check by parents, relatives, teachers and peer groups, their best intentions to save us from disappointment have been geared toward telling us not to expect too much in life we will only be disappointed.

No wonder self styled professional ‘Gurus’ earn vast fortunes establishing seminars, telling us what we should be doing to improve our lot, without really coaching us how to do it, well that is in the next power lesson which costs an extra $x,000 and helps keep them rich and us poor. Thirsting for the next secret advertised will not get you that personal power found in self improvement .

Whilst it is true to say that whatever level of personal development you are at you do need a framework in order to know if improvement has actually occurred, what you do not need is the latest ‘Whizz bang super-dooper piece of software that will power you to smart goal achievement’.

They tell you that they know something you do not and that is why you feel frustrated at your lack of personal development you will feel compelled to pull out more and more of your hard earned money to discover the secret, when there is no secret anyway.

Just as a building need a strong framework so do you to keep on track? Well you need some sort of smart goal or benchmark to aim for because you need to define the end-point, you need plans and strategies to measure and assess your progress toward the end, and you need milestones set out so that you can reward yourself for making progress on the way. In every journey you need some sort of feedback to know just where you are and are you on track.

Would you set off on a long unfamiliar journey without first looking at a map for guidance.Even then you would set milestones on the route to measure how far you had covered and how far you had to go. Keep your money in your pocket I can tell you all you need to know from my past experience of personal development work.

Well there is one key to successful personal development, smart goal setting, motivation call it what you will let me tell you what it is….?

What Can Your Childhood Really Teach You?

Thursday, February 12th, 2009

Your childhood can teach you everything you need to know to develop your life in career and social situations. It is a shame that we forget to go back!

What is that?

You may ask surely we need as the good book says in 1 Corinthians chpt 13 vv11 “When I was a child, I spoke like a child, thought like a child, and reasoned like a child. I gave up childish things when I became a man.” This is true but there is a trait of childhood we should never have left behind – The trait to ask questions that are conflict managing type questions in our quest for knowledge to achieve our life goals.

You may think that you still ask questions every day, but what sort of questions are they the conflict managing type. Sometimes you ask internal questions such as when there is a surprise knock at the door you ask inside your head “I wonder who that is?”

Now go on admit it you talk to yourself. You could probably at this moment be saying inside your head, “No I don’t, do I?”

When the phone rings have you ever caught yourself saying out loud, “I wonder who is ringing at this time of night?”

There are of course those natural external questions such as when you meet someone and ask, “How are you?” most of the time you do not wait for a reply as you do not really ask questions to get a reply but out of common courtesy.

Now compare those questions to when a children ask questions, they almost demands answers by using questions that start with, who, what, where, when, how and why. The cry out for answers to increase their knowledge by asking open questions and demanding the answers.

In adulthood we feel the fear that in asking conflict managing questions, we appear ignorant, how many times when you have been listening at a seminar or other training course and you have nodded intelligently when you haven’t got the foggiest notion what the speaker was talking about.

In listening to a speaker you place your own interpretation on the words you think you hear, the problem is the speaker also places his interpretation on the words which may be different from yours leading to misunderstanding and conflict.

Your misinterpretation is often caused by the workings of your inner mind, when you hear a word or collection of words, your inner mind needs to explore the recesses of your memory to find those words in your knowledge base and then set them against the experience you were subjected to that placed a meaning on those words into your memory.

The speaker also in searching for the correct words to use lets his inner mind search the recesses of his memory to uncover an experience he had related to or exactly the same as what he was trying to convey through his words. If you have a similar experience in your past lives there is harmony and understanding but if you have a totally different experience there is misunderstanding a need for conflict resolution.

Let me give you an example. What image springs into your mind when you hear the word ‘pen’? We think in pictures not words. Let us say that you are using or have just used a biro pen, you would probably see the image of that pen in your mind, however, if my experience was to always use a fountain pen that is the image I was trying to portray through my words.

Now the resolving conflict that may occur between the interpretation of the word pen may not be catastrophic, but unless we ask conflict managing questions; when we do not understand what is being said we will live in conflict, leading to stress and breakdown or relationships both socially and career wise.

Going back to our child analogy, the other trait in a child’s questions that we must return to is persistence. How many times does a child ask a question – until it understands the answer? Now how many times do you ask a question and stop asking in case you look a fool before you understand the answer.

As Luke chpt 11 vv9 says “Ask and you shall receive.”

Do not feel the fear, ask, ask, ask and even ask again until you understand he who thinks you are a fool for doing so is the bigger fool who wishes not to be understood.
